Origin of a Demon Slayer

Just finished this. Tell me what you think.

Origin of a demon slayer
By John Sanford

The dust blew
The air cleared
Albert stared
At what appeared

Across the ground
Where once a hill sat
Lay an exposed chain
Where the ground was now flat

He called the lead worker
Whose name he didn’t know
His obvious superiority
He was determined to show

He pointed at the chain
As if to explain
Not trying to contain
His sense of disdain

The man stalked away
With an audible growl
Walked to his men
And said in a howl

“Start up that crane
Clear out the rubble
I want this job done
And on the double”

Standing by an Angelic statue
That once sat upon the land
Albert thought of his future pool
And all the fun he had planned

The chains clanked
The crane banked
Albert’s mind blanked
And demons thanked

The chain was a handle
To a door that held back
A demon horde
That now turned the sky black

Albert fell to his knees
Unable to even shout
He saw men die
That’s when he passed out

When consciousness resumed
And his sight returned
There was such a bright light
That Albert’s eyes burned

The Angel, no longer of stone
In the fading light shone
Albert immediately lay prone
And begged to be left alone

The Angel stood Albert up
Told him to be silent
Pulled out a sword
And looked rather violent

Albert shrank back
His pants now soiled
Regretting the life
He wasted and spoiled

The Angel looked at the man
That was white as if dead
Gave a slight nod
Took a moment then said

“The demons you set free
Were once guarded by me
Now your directive will be
This divine decree

“Since you let them loose
The demons you must destroy
Or else the human race
Will be used as their toy

“Every child will fall
Into the hands of these creatures
They no longer will listen
To police, parents or preachers

“Women will become prey
To ramped lust
Into every man’s mind
Evil intentions will be thrust

“The threat can’t be ignored
Things need to be restored
So you must take this sword
In service to the Lord”

Albert shook his head
Saying this he couldn’t do
Then looking at the Angel
Asked, “Why can’t you?”

The being’s answer was short
Direct and to the point
The Angel said clearly
“Because it’s you the Lord did anoint”

Albert took the sword
Strengthened in his mind and soul
His courage was bolstered
He finally felt whole

He could see the heavens open wide
Now no demon could hide
Albert sighed
Feeling a little fried

Three days later
The reports would say
That a gas explosion
Killed the men that day

Now here he was
Trying to be unseen by seamen
Struggling to keep his calm
As he pursued his first demon

Albert jumped off the bridge
Onto the oil tanker
Something he wouldn’t have done
As an investment banker

He landed on the tip
Of the slow moving ship
Almost lost his grip
Ending up in the big dip

But his hands held firm
Now it was time to slay
The demon on board
Before it could lead anyone astray

He only knew
That if he fell
Mankind would be
In an earthly hell

It was three months after
The foul creatures were loosed
He took time to train
To get a physical boost

He now had less fat
He was fast as a cat
Most hours spent on a mat
Training for all kinds of combat

The demon was here
Of this Albert was sure
It was in a woman’s body
Using it as a lure

This demon was lust
Though it was a weaker kind
It would meet the men’s eyes
Then worm in their mind

It would leave the door open
For the more powerful sort
To come inside easily
And set up a demonic fort

Albert went silently ahead
His stomach swirling as if unfed
His feet began to feel like lead
He didn’t want to end up dead

But that’s when saw
Something that made his courage unfurl
The demon was not in a woman
It was controlling a girl

His heart was filled with rage
It was destroying something pure
He could and would do this job
Of this he was sure

He moved forward with care
On the girl he was intent
He would save this one
This little one so innocent

There came a punch
That made Albert hunch
He heard a crunch
And lost his lunch

One of the crewmen
Already ensnared
Attacked Albert again
His teeth yellow and bared

Albert countered
The mindless attack
Threw the man overboard
And heard another rib crack

Albert turned to the girl
He held his stomach and head
Saw beyond the small face
To the demon and said

“In Jesus name
Of whom Paul preached without shame
Go back to the place you once came
And spend eternity in flame”

“Of Jesus I know
Of Paul I have heard
But you don’t ring a bell”
The demon voice purred

Albert pulled sword from sheath
Before the creature could react
He knew that God was with him
And that this was no time for tact

He thrust the hilt forward
Tapping the girl lightly
She fell backwards convulsing
Albert began to panic slightly

The demon came out her head
Trying to shed
The child almost dead
But Albert grabbed it and said

“Let my name be known in hell
Raise it on banner high
Because when one of your kind hears it
That demon is going to die”

He stabbed the being
Where a heart should have been
Its body shimmered and shook
And turned to something like liquid sin

Albert picked up the girl
Her breathing now strong
Waited for the ship to dock
While he sang her a sweet song

With the mission complete
He brought the girl to her street
Returned her home while being discreet
Then left to find more demons to defeat
